Challenges
Convince funders of the startup’s potential
Convince funders of the startup’s potential. The main objective was to create a compelling presentation that demonstrated why ReLife VR is an effective solution for PTSD treatment. Given the lack of similar therapies in Ukraine, the goal was to show that this proven method, used in the West, can successfully be implemented in Ukraine.
Explain how the therapy works
Explain how the therapy works. The website needed to simplify complex concepts for the audience, clearly explaining how virtual reality therapy can treat PTSD. The process had to be broken down into stages that would be easy to understand, ensuring that potential funders grasp the full scope of the project and how it will be executed.
Present the startup concept rather than a completed product
Showcase the idea’s potential, not a finished product. Another challenge was to emphasize that the website was presenting an idea, not a fully developed product. It was important to highlight that while VR therapy is proven effective abroad, it is still new to Ukraine, and the startup aims to fill this gap in treatment. The website needed to outline the problem and why the government should support and fund the solution.
User research
Skeptical and Demanding Users
These users are likely to be skeptical about new methods, so it's important to provide clear, concise, and well-structured information. They will require solid proof that the project is well-planned, reliable, and feasible. Thus, the website should offer a detailed explanation of the startup's mission, the problem it aims to solve, and the steps to reach the solution. Transparency about deadlines and execution plans will build trust and credibility.
Need for Credibility
This audience highly values reliability and proven success. To meet this demand, the website will feature media mentions, testimonials from real people who have benefited from similar treatments, and scientific publications from reputable medical journals. This adds an extra layer of confidence in the project's potential. Showcasing the expertise and experience of the team members, as well as the partnerships with major global companies, further reinforces the project’s credibility.
Preference for a Professional and Modern Look
Decision-makers in grant-giving organizations often appreciate a design that balances professionalism with innovation. The website should look clean, minimalistic, yet modern, reflecting the innovative nature of the startup while maintaining a serious tone. The visual style should instill confidence, showing that this project is not just a concept, but a well-thought-out initiative with clear goals and execution plans.
Solutions
Demonstrating Proven Efficacy
To build trust and showcase the effectiveness of the method, I carefully selected relevant scientific research and articles, summarizing their findings on the method's success. I included references to all sources and highlighted mentions in reputable media outlets, supported by real testimonials from veterans.
Showcasing Team Expertise and Reliability
To build trust not only in the method but also in the team behind it, I showcased detailed profiles of each team member, including their resumes and areas of expertise. I highlighted their successful track record with global brands and shared their impressive 10-year experience in virtual reality. Additionally, I presented a clear and detailed roadmap with timelines for the project. The team's achievements, such as being featured twice in the Ukrainian Book of Records, further reinforced their credibility and ability to deliver the project successfully.
Design for Emotional Engagement and Impact
To drive home the seriousness of the issue, I implemented a shock-content strategy by showcasing the stories and struggles of veterans who had not yet received therapy. The aim was to visually demonstrate the devastating effects of untreated PTSD. This emotional storytelling was paired with a carefully selected color scheme and minimalist design, which used somber, muted tones to create a serious and urgent atmosphere. The design was intentionally restrained to keep the focus on the content and to provoke an emotional response that encourages immediate action from potential grant providers.
Conclusion
The website is complete and received positive feedback from the clients. Everyone understands the site's purpose and goals, and the clients are satisfied with the work I did—not only in design but also in researching articles and writing content.
Although the site hasn't been officially presented for the grant yet, so it's too early to judge its effectiveness, there are plans to continue improving it. A donation block will be added once the legal work is finalized and the account is opened. I'll provide updates on the startup’s progress after this phase.
